Power of Play

Play is a simple and powerful catalyst
for successful and joyful living.
When we play, we open our heart and expand our creative mind to new possibilities.  We are more curious, engage with life more fully in the moment, and live with less attachment to ideas, agendas or the perceived "right way" of doing things.

In turn, we become more flexible and adaptable with life's unpredictable cycles, find creative solutions in unconventional ways and take risks to try new ideas.

We connect to our innate resourcefulness and creatively express all aspects of our Self into the world with greater ease and joy.

Specific benefits include:

Greater range of authentic self-expression
Higher levels of self-awareness
Expanded body aliveness and energy
Different levels of listening
The power of curiosity
Releasing limiting and negative beliefs
Laughter is truly the best medicine - no need for a prescription, no unpleasant aftertaste, no side effects, and best of all - it's FREE!

The average child laughs between 300 and 400 times per day. By the time we reach adulthood we are reduced to laughing, on average, only 12 times a day! Laughter has been proven to reduce stress, pain, and depression while improving creativity, physical vitality and a sense of well being.

During a laughter yoga session you will be led through a series of breathing exercises, gentle movement, and simulated laughter. Developed by Indian physician, Dr. Madan Kataria, laughter yoga is designed to help people connect with their inner child and re-discover joy, spontaneity, and creativity.

You will laugh like you have never laughed before, and you will leave refreshed and invigorated. You will do this for no reason at all, except improving your health and well-being.  People of all ages, religions and ethnicities laugh together. It is a great way to build bridges and promote peace in the community.

Laughter yoga is for all people - all ages and all abilities. Specific exercises can be modified to suit the abilities of the participant. Anyone can practice laughter yoga and everyone can benefit.

Laughter is an important part of Remembering to Play.
Physiological benefits of laughter include:

Reduced stress
Lowered blood pressure
Boosted immune system
Improved brain functioning
Protection from heart disease
A statistic to consider:
Cardiac care units where the nurses' general mood was depressed had a death rate among patients four times higher than on comparable units where nurses were happy. (Schneider, 1995)

The moral of the story is that if you are going to have a heart attack, go to a hospital where nurses are happy!
Compassion for yourself and others
Communication skills
Increased capacity to flow with life and experience joy
